How to Make Simply Syrup My Way
Simple Syrup consists of only two ingredients. Just water and sugar. Simple syrups are used to add moisture and sometimes flavor to a cake. Many times chiffon and sponge cakes can be dry so the syrup adds moisture. Traditional wedding cakes used simple syrup. My style of simple syrup is not very sweet and is very unlike most other recipes out there. I also put a fair amount on the cakes I make.
How to Apply the Syrup. There are a few different ways you apply the syrup to your cake. Above I have taken a bottle and pit some holes in the lid so I can sprinkle is out onto the cake. You can also use a wide pastry brush. Sure smaller narrow brushes work, but if you have several layers to brush it may takes some time.
Can you add flavorings? Sure can. There may be some times you want to add some flavorings . . Maybe Creme de Mint if you are looking for a minty flavor, How about a strawberry brandy if you are looking for a strawberry flavor. You can even flavor it with regular flavoring. How much to add is up to you and the taste wanted.\
Can I add more sugar? Of course you can. If you search the internet you will find recipe using anywhere for 1 part sugar to 3 parts water to 3 parts sugar to 1 part water. It is all the desired sweetness you are looking for. If you have ever had a snow cone or Hawaiian Saved Ice the flavoring used is nothing more than a flavored simple syrup, of course the sugar to water concentration is fairly high.
So simple to make. Water and Sugar are added to a pot. Boiled and then cooled before using. Enjoy.

- If you want to add a flavoring to your syrup add it once you remove it from the stove to cool down. Add flavoring to taste.

If you want to add additional flavors to your syrups, you can use flavoring extracts, alcohols such as Creme de Mint, a flavors Schnapps or even a flavor brandy to taste.
