How To Make an Oreo Cream Cake
Prepare the Best Special Chocolate Cake , the Simple Syrup and the Swiss Meringue Buttercream a head of time. Crush about 50 Oreo® cookies in the food processor. Cut in half another 5 Oreo cookies. For the chocolate cake, take the dome off and slice the layers in half so you have a total of 4 cake layers.
- Ingredients, Best Special Chocolate Cake, about 50 crushed Oreo® cookies, 5 Oreo® cookies cut in half.simple syrup.
- Swiss meringue buttercream.
To assemble:
Place a dab on icing on the cake board. Place a cake layer on top and moisten with simple syrup. Spread a layer of buttercream and top with a layer of crushed Oreo cookies.
- Dab a little buttercream on cake board to hold the cake in place.
- Place bottom cake layer on. Sprinkle with simple syrup.
- Add a layer of buttercream and spread crushed Oreos on top.
Place a second cake layer on top and moisten with simple syrup. Spread a layer of buttercream and top with a layer of crushed Oreo cookies. Place a third cake layer on top and moisten with simple syrup.
- Place the second layer of cake and sprinkle with simple syrup.
- Spread some buttercream and sprinkle some crushed oreo cookies.
- Place the third cake layer on. Moisten with simple syrup.
Spread a layer of buttercream and top with a layer of crushed Oreo cookies. Place a last cake layer on top and moisten with simple syrup, notice that the top of the cake should be a pan bottom side because it has a square edge and this will make a better presentation. I am going to ice this cake with a cake icer tip.
- Spread with buttercream. Spread a layer of oreo cookies on top.
- Add the final layer of cake, notice I put a pan end up to give be a crisp edge. Moisten with simple syrup.
- Cake icer tip, one side is flat, the other side is serrated (saw toothed).
Place the toothed side towards the cake, squeeze the bag and rotate the turntable to apply the icing. Do the sides and the top. Alternatively, you can ice the cake the traditional way by putting icing on with a spatula.
- Ice sides of cake with saw tooth side towards cake.
- Continue icing.
- Ice the top too.
After you are done applying the icing with the icer tube, use an icing spatula to smooth the icing. To square the sides of the cake up, use a bench scraper to smooth.

- I like using a bench scraper to give me a crisp clean side.
Press crushed Oreos onto the side of the cake. Pipe 8 buttercream rosettes and top each with a half Oreo cookie.
- Press crushed Oreos into the side of the cake.
- Pipe 8 rosettes on top.
- Garnish each rosette with an Oreo cookie half.
Sprinkle some crushed Oreos between the rosettes. Enjoy!

- 1 recipe The Best Secret Chocolate Cake
- 1 recipe Swiss Meringue Buttercream
- 1 recipe Simple Syrup
- 50 Oreo cookies - crushed in the food processor
- 5 Oreo cookies - cut in half for garnish
