Basic Tart Dough Recipe

Serves: 1 tart shell
- ¼ Cup Sugar (50 grams/2oz.)
- 9 Tablespoons Butter, room temperature (125 grams or 1 stick plus 1 Tbsp (4.4 oz.)
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1-2/3 Cups All-Purpose Flour (200 grams / 7oz.)
- Measure out all ingredients.
- Add butter and sugar to the mixer bowl and cream together.
- Add the egg and the vanilla extract. Incorporate and scrape down the bowl to ensure everything is well mixed.
- Add in the flour and mix until incorporated, about 30 seconds.
- Turn out the dough onto a piece of plastic wrap, form a disc and wrap well. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill.
This dough may be made 4 or 5 days before you need it and stored in the refrigerator.
