This is an easy one bowl recipe. Dry ingredients get sifted into the bowl, sugar and liquid ingredients are add and a whisk is used to mix everything together. One can not ask for an easier recipe. Enjoy.

Ingredients
  • 2-1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Powdered Red Food Coloring *see not 1 for substitutions
  • 1-1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk
  • ¾ cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon White Distilled Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF/177ºC
  2. Measure out all ingredients.
  3. Sift all the dry ingredients together into a bowl.
  4. Add in the sugar and whisk into the dry flour mixtures.
  5. Add in the buttermilk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract,vinegar and an egg. Whisk to incorporate.
  6. Line cupcake pans with paper cups. Fill cups.
  7. Bake in a 350ºF/177ºCfor 20 to 25 minutes.
Notes
Note 1 - Substitutions for Powdered Food Coloring- Add any of these colorings when you add the liquid ingredients.. 1 Tablespoon liquid food coloring or 1 teaspoon paste food coloring or 1 teaspoon gel food coloring. If you desire it redder, add some more food coloring.
